Local Plan Consultation - Underway until 14 April
Councillors met on 28 January to consider the Publication Version of the Central Lancashire Local Plan and to agree the next stage of the adoption process, the commencement of a statutory consultation.
The Local Plan is a strategic plan for the area of Chorley, South Ribble and Preston and sets out the three councils’ approach to managing and delivering development (residential, employment and other infrastructure) for the three districts between 2023 and 2041.
It is an important strategy which supports delivery of corporate ambitions and objectives, such as provision of affordable housing, tackling health and social inequalities and tackling the climate emergency. It sets out a mandate for the three councils in shaping future growth in the three districts and ensuring this is determined locally.
The consultation is still underway and will be open until 11.59pm on Monday 14th April 2025.
Please see link below:
More information on the Central Lancashire Local Plan, and how to respond to the consultation can be found on here.

Parish Council Consultation - Outdoor Sports Facilities
Chorley Council, Preston City Council and South Ribble Borough Council are working to better understand the current and future provision for outdoor sports facilities.
They have commissioned management consultancy Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to carry out an assessment of outdoor sports facilities which will result in the production of an overarching strategy for the area.
This will identify local need for provision and will help to inform decisions on future strategic planning and any investment priorities for provision across the area.
It will include all facilities whether managed within the public, private, voluntary or education sectors. The assessment will identify local need for sports provision within each local authority and will serve as the key evidence base that will inform the future strategic planning and investment in sport and recreation facilities across the area.
The assessment is actively supported by both Sport England and the National Governing Bodies of Sport (including Lancashire FA, Football Foundation, RFU, RFL, LTA and England Hockey).
Please find below a link to a short online survey which we ask all Parish Councils to complete in order to provide information on outdoor sports facilities currently in use, as well as demand information, which will help to form an accurate picture of outdoor sports provision across the area. This is your opportunity to put forward your views surrounding outdoor sport facilities in the area and experiences.
Central Lancashire Parish Survey
Please can you complete the survey on behalf of your Parish Council as soon as possible. For further details please contact
Sam Smith, Consultant at KKP
